iPad case with removable gadget pouch

Posted on

A nice lady asked if I could make her a iPad case with a removable gadget pouch for when she’s traveling…

We chatted on Facebook for quite a bit and ends up she’s living about 3 houses from my place! How fun!

So she came in and we choose the fabrics for the kit. I am so happy with how it turned out! I draw the pouch and wasn’t sure if it would be too small, but no, it’s perfect for the charger and cord 🙂

I used a longer strap for the pouch so it can be tied on the case when you need it and removable if you don’t!

Made from a necktie, pants, linen, nightgown, batting and a bracelet (used as a strap).

New product!

I love knitting. That is when my wrists let me knit a bit 😉 And at night, I’m way too tired to do something productive, even knitting  my shawl (no. I’m not done yet, but almost!) is too much often sometimes. Let say I was kind of tired of fingerless mitts….

So I thought of a way to be 1: productive and 2: be knitting! Enter this:

eco knitted coffee sleeves

I know, I didn’t invented the wheel here, but it’s cute, functional, quick and fun to make!

Some of those coffee sleeves are adorned with recycled fabric covered buttons, some with a fake tea pouch.

They all made using reclaimed yarns of course 🙂

Have you seen my neat and great cardboard display for them!!?? I’m sooo happy with my drawing!  Just a look and you know what this product is use for. It will be a good thing for my fabric coffee sleeves since people at craft fairs were putting them on their wrist like a bracelet lol! Still need to make more, but i need to buy white cardboard first. I won’t be giving them away so when I’ll have enough made I will just use them over and over 😉 I think it looks really professional!

A lady asked me on my facebook fan page if I could sew 2 hippopotamus for 2 young girlies in her life. I looked everywhere trying to find a sewing pattern and none was there to be found 😦

So I put my big girl panties and went to work drafting my own…

My own pattern :)

And so glad I did!! All in all it took me less than 45 min and I had a cute pattern that I couldn’t wait to see alive with fabrics 🙂

Sooooo happy with the end products!!! I may or may not have made a happy dance…

A bit smaller than the stuffed elephant, they  measures: 7″x10 1/2″.

Still need to find them a name, any ideas?? I was thinking of Germaine  for the girlies and Hyppolite for the bad boy…

all about mittens

Two of my kiddos had winter scouts camp last week end… and we realized, while making luggage, that we were low on mittens stock.

Entire pairs got lost, some were single.

Enter mommy and her sewing machine 🙂

I went a bit crazy and cut up 12 pairs of mittens, I needed new stuff for the shop so I just went for it (they still need to be sewn up lol)

Made Camille a pair, which she didn’t brought after all since we found more mittens stashed away (read: lying at the back of her wardrobe) she decides to keep them for more dressy occasions (like going to school…)

My son was pretty happy with his (in his fave colors of course!) which surprised me since he’s more the gloves type. I’m glad they are getting worn 😉

And I knitted a pair for myself too! love fingerless mitts, and loved knitting them 🙂

one cable mitts fingerless

I had made a shawl in 2010 that never was worn since it was way too small.

frogged 200 yards of heaven
(sorry for the really bad picture, that was taken in my previous life, without my Nikon!)

Yarn was soft and so cushy (wool, cashmere and cotton blend reclaimed by a nice lady!) so unravelled it and got to play with this yarn again…

pattern is one cable mitts.  project page here

And I made great progress on my shawl!!!  2 rows to go and I’ll start last chart… YAY! love it with beads 🙂

Another free embroidery pattern! (with birdies again)

I made some doodles while I was going to my friend Kim’s… And I thought they would make nice embroidery designs!

Eco friendly 241 tote with hand embroidery

I made a new 241 tote (find the pattern here!) and made one of my doodle come to life 🙂

Eco friendly 241 tote with hand embroidery

I love the way it looks on dark fabric!!

hand embroidering

And thanks to Kristyne over at pretty by hand, I can now embroider easily on dark fabrics with the nice trick she shared! yep, you just transfert your design onto tissu paper! How neat and easy!

the bag is made from pants, curtains, shirt and fabric remnants one of my friend gave me. It’s interlined with bed sheet and interfacing. I used 2 reclaimed zippers and part of a earring as zipper pull on the front of the bag. The strap is adjustable and it features a wooden curtain ring 🙂 You can find the listing for the bag here.

So, the birdies doodle is here for you to grab whenever the embroidery bug bites 🙂 Please use the design for your personal use only.

Pattern try: stuffed elephant!

I know… but I couldn’t pass up the 20% etsy coupon Kim over at retromama was offering lol! And I wanted a new pattern, so there you go!

eco-friendly stuffed elephant made from reclaimed fabrics

I was all happy to make something new, but I’m not sure I’m liking the way I made it, with 2 different fabrics for the body.  I had a really hard time stuffing it to my liking (and this one is not there yet). What do you guys think?? a keeper?! maybe I should try it with only 2 fabrics instead of 3?

eco-friendly stuffed elephant made from reclaimed fabrics

This little guy is made from a men’s pants, shirt and ears from a necktie. I hand embroidered the eyes. Now it’s listed in my shop… so I’ll see from there too.

I’ve also made 2 doggies since I had sold the last one 🙂

Eco stuffed dog, made from upcycled materials

This boy is made from 2 men’s pants, shirt and ears from a necktie (it’s a close cousin to the previous elephant!) it’s listed here.

Eco stuffed dog, made from upcycled materials

This girlie, Oh I really like this one!  is made from denim pants (jeans), 2 women’s shirt and a fabric remnant. She features on one side a pocket from the shirt 🙂 she’s right here.

All of those stuffed toys are made using retromama patterns, you can get your own right here!

New necktie bags!

I’ve been busy, and I finally sewn all the necktie bags I had cut!

As usual, they are made from men’s suit pants, shirts and neckties 🙂
these are probably going in a shop in Jonquière as a Lady asked to have my stuff over there!

This one is already list in my shop!

All the bags have the pant’s pockets at the back, and I am happy because I found a way to use one pant to make 2 bags! So there is even less waste!

Now, on to make 2 special orders….
